Firefighters saved two dogs from a fire that destroyed the attic and roof of a Point Loma home on Jan. 20, a fire official said.
When firefighters got to the single-story house on Wildwood Road near Warrington Street about 12:40 p.m., flames were burning under the eaves, and heavy smoke was billowing from the residence, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Capt. Joe Amador said.
Crews determined most of the fire was coming from a livable attic space and that flames had spread to the roof, Amador said. Firefighters kept the fire from burning the main area, but the roof and attic space were destroyed. The rest of the home was seriously damaged by smoke and water.
It took firefighters about 50 minutes to put out most of the fire, Amador said. Three people were displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
