Business partners Leigh Gibson and Jon Ollis, also Pacific Beach residents, opened Dirty Birds two years ago. The duo had the concept in mind for a while, but finally found the right space at 4656 Mission Blvd. The name comes from the fact that the bar and restaurant is known for its chicken wings, which are available in 22 different flavors. In the two years since it opened, Dirty Birds has sold more than 350,000 chicken wings. The bar will celebrate its anniversary Aug. 11 at 9 p.m. with a fundraiser to support the local breast cancer charity I Heart Boobies. The event will offer $3 you-call-its, guest bartenders and raffle prizes. Dirty Birds has been busy taking down all of the “good luck” dollar bills stapled to the walls by patrons.
