Five new sex crimes were added on April 4 against a man who has been previously accused of sexually assaulting two women in Pacific Beach and Otay Mesa.
Seth Alan Roberts, 18, pleaded not guilty to the new charges involving a third victim and San Diego Superior Court Judge Polly Shamoon increased his bail to $2 million.
Deputy District Attorney Judy Taschner said the latest victim had been reluctant to come forward initially. Taschner said the woman met Roberts while he was on his skateboard and she gave him her phone number.
Taschner told the judge that Roberts showed up at her residence later. She said the victim let Roberts in her bedroom, but she pushed him away when he tried to kiss her.
Roberts then pulled a knife and sexually assaulted her multiple times, said the prosecutor. The five new counts allege rape, unlawful sexual penetration, and forcible sodomy.
Taschner told a reporter afterwards she could not say which area the crimes took place other than it was in San Diego County.
Roberts was awaiting a preliminary hearing on April 17 on the other two incidents, but the new charges caused his attorney to seek a delay. Shamoon re-scheduled the hearing for July 31.
Roberts was arrested Dec. 6, 2018, on the case involving a sexual assault on Reed Avenue in Pacific Beach and also in Otay Mesa in Oct. and November. He remains in the George Bailey Detention Facility.
