The night consisted of lively casino game action, a three-course meal by Bahia Hotel and an award ceremony celebrating outstanding businesses and volunteers. “The annual Casino Night and Awards is a great opportunity to celebrate the diverse business mix we have in PB,” said Sara Berns, Discover PB executive director. “It’s great to see business owners from restaurants, pet shops and realties all gather together and have a chance to connect as well as an opportunity for us to thank all of those that support Discover PB throughout the year.” The results: New Business Award – The Facility Dance Studio; Design and Improvement Award – Maverick’s Beach Club; Heart of PB Award – Crown Point Coffee; Community volunteer – Brian Dunlap, The Mad Beet; Community patron – Jacob Gelfand, Campland on the Bay; and Duran-Galliher Community Spirit – Debbie Conca, Mr. Frosties. BE PATIENT DURING SPRING BREAK IN PB Due to the different school systems and diversity of visitors, spring break iruns through March and April, said Sara Berns, executive director of Discover PB. “We encourage people to be patient and hospitable, of course, as we are a leading visitor site in San Diego. There are families who save for more than a year to take vacations, and with the world becoming more accessible, what used to be a given isn’t necessarily any more,” said Berns. “Many of our small businesses depend on the tourist season, and those are your neighbors and friends.” Continued Berns: “So if you find yourself behind someone driving a little too slow with Arizona plates, keep these things in mind before yelling ‘Go home zonie!’ Of course, as always, we want people to be safe and get out and enjoy what will hopefully be our renowned weather soon.” CONSTRUCTION UNDER WAY ON TROLLEY TUNNEL Crews have begun work in preparation for construction of the Trolley underpass at La Jolla Colony Drive.
