Coffee, cornflakes and networking at Peninsula Breakfast Club

Peninsula merchants wanting to improve their business-to-business networking need look no further than Peninsula Breakfast Club.
Around for more than 25 years, the business networking group meets the first and third Thursdays from 7 to 8 a.m. at The Bay Club Hotel & Marina, 2131 Shelter Island Drive.
The hour-long breakfast meetings feature two speakers giving 10-minute speeches on their businesses.
“It’s made up of local businesses in Point Loma and Ocean Beach,” said Chris Mannerino of Pacific Sotheby International Realty. “We’re always looking for new businesses to come forward.”
Mannerino said business partner, Mark Winkler, started the organization about 26 years ago.
At present, the club counts amongst its members a Realtor, a dentist, an attorney, a car detailer and many more occupations.
The networking group, currently numbering about 25 members, does not allow competing members from the same business category.
“We’re building lifelong relationships with these people,” said Mannerino. “I’ve earned their trust — they’ve earned mine.”
Mannerino added the purpose of the group is to help support member businesses through referrals. “We support each other by using the businesses ourselves, as well as referring out to other people,” he said.
As a Realtor, Mannerino noted, “I’m not really pitching my properties.” Though he pointed out, “I’ve sold three or four homes to group members.”
Peninsula Breakfast Club also has a business directory.
Anyone with an active business in either Point Loma or OB is eligible for membership in the group.
Peninsula Breakfast Club has a Facebook page and is on Instagram @pbcnetworkinggroup.
