Summer will soon come to a close for the Highlanders. School offices will reopen on Aug. 6, and classes begin Aug. 8. We look forward to another great school year.
While current Highlanders will be returning to classes, past Highlanders will gather to celebrate their class reunions. The following are alumni and reunion events planned for summer and fall:
The Helix Alumni Association will host the annual All Class Picnic on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The picnic will feature music, food, fun and friends, and a car show with the Kingpins Car Club. There will be a contest for the “best dressed” class canopy, so gather your classmates and show what you’ve got! For more information, visit the Helix High School Alumni Events page on Facebook.
The class of 1968 will celebrate their 50-year class reunion Oct. 19–21. For more information, visit helix1968reunion.myevent.com.
The Class of 1978 will celebrate their 40-year reunion on Sept. 8 at the Riverwalk Golf Club, 1150 Fashion Valley Road. The event runs 6–11 p.m. with a reception, buffet dinner and socializing. There will be a no host cash bar and “dressy casual” attire is suggested. Tickets are $95 per person before Aug. 8, and $105 after. There is special pricing for lodging at Town & Country San Diego, 500 Hotel Circle North. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit bit.ly/2uPvn6J.
The class of 1988 will hold their 30th reunion on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10 and 11. The event will kick off with an extended happy hour on Friday from 3–11 p.m. at Johnny B’s Burgers, Brews & Spirits, located at 8393 La Mesa Blvd. The back patio is reserved for the class. RSVP by texting your name to 619-244-1541.
The event continues Saturday with a dinner and dance party from 6–11 p.m. at Pueblo restaurant in Pacific Beach, 877 Hornblend St. Tickets are $75 and are available at eventbrite.com (search Helix).
The class of 1998 invites you to come join fellow classmates and teachers to catch up on old times at the 20-year reunion on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 6–11 p.m. at the Bolt Brewery, 8179 Center St. in La Mesa. All classmates from 1998, or any classes before or after 1998 who want to reconnect with old friends, are welcome to attend.
This is a private event at the brewery and tickets are required for entry. Tickets include: two drink tickets for your choice of beer or wine, taco buffet dinner, dessert, and music. The price is $50 per person; nonalcoholic drink tickets are also available for $35 until July 31. From Aug. 1 to at the door, the tickets increase to $65/$50 per person, respectively.
Purchase tickets via PayPal by logging into or creating a PayPal account at paypal.com. On the home screen, click on “Send money to a friend” at the top.
