Caltrans will close all lanes on northbound Interstate 805 from La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road to Interstate 5 tonight, May 30, from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. The closure is necessary for bridge and highway work. Northbound motorists will be detoured to westbound State Route 52 to northbound I-5. Travelers wishing to exit at Nobel Drive or Governor Drive will be allowed to continue north on I-805 to their exits. The work schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions. In the event of rain, the closures may be rescheduled. Stage 1 of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project involves construction of one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from just north of SR-52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard and a south-facing Direct Access Ramp at Carroll Canyon Road. The construction cost for Stage 1 is about $86 million and is funded with state, federal and local sources, including the Proposition 1B State – Local Partnership Program and Trans Net Extension funds.
