California Open Wildlife Art Festival at Liberty Station

On Feb. 13 and 14 more than 100 artists and carvers from parts of the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan will compete for awards and exhibit their work at Liberty Station – NTC Promenade, Corky McMillin Event Center, 2875 Dewey Road. There is free parking and show hours are Saturday and Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entry donation is $5, children under 12 are free.
Come on down to the McMillian Center to see these amazing works of art. This exhibition is a rare treat for wildlife and art lovers of all ages.
The 43rd annual California Open Wildlife Art Festival is sponsored by Pacific Southwest Wildlife Arts, Inc. PSWA is a nonprofit organization founded to support and promote wildlife art, in particular the original art form of carved hunting decoys.
This unique wildlife art show has gained a national reputation as one of the best decoy competitions and wildlife art shows in the country. For 2016, the PSWA presents San Diego bird photographer Scott Streit as their featured artist of the year. Streit is only the second photographer to be honored at featured artist.
Streit has been photographing the birds of San Diego for more than 20 years. Streit’s photographs have been published in books, magazines, newspapers, brochures, and on the internet.  Additionally, he has contributed images to such prestigious organizations as the Audubon Society of California, the National Wildlife Federation, the U.S. Forest Service and Mission Trails Regional Park.
“Birds are my favorite natural subject. To me, bird photography provides a unique set of challenges and rewards,” he said.
 Highlights of this year’s show: World-class carving competition;
Wildlife artists: exhibits and sales;
Open to the Public Art Auction;
Vendors of tools and supplies;
Antique decoys and appraisals.
