Gardening classes at Armstrong
Saturdays

For these free gardening classes, Armstrong Garden Centers will give tips and tricks on various topics and areas of interest. The Mission Valley/Grantville store is located at 10320 Friars Road; there are several other San Diego Armstrong locations. Sessions start at 9 a.m. Upcoming classes include:

  • “Gardening with lush waterwise plants” on July 9
  • “Firescaping with waterwise plants” on July 16
  • “Growing succulents and cacti” on July 23
  • “Growing citrus in a home garden” on Aug. 6

Monday, July 11

‘Celebrating Diversity: Intergenerational Event’
Tuesday, July 12

This event will include fun activities that pair youth with senior citizens. The intergenerational event is open to the public and will feature reading, art, food and music. This event will feature San Diego City Councilmember Lorie Zapf and be held at the Bayside Community Center (2202 Comstock St., Linda Vista). Civita Friday Movie Night with ‘Zootopia’
Friday, July 15

Mission Valley housing community Civita continues their summer movie series with this event. This edition features a screening of the animated film “Zootopia.” This event is open to the public and attendees are invited to bring their own picnic or partake in free popcorn. Outdoor Family Movie Night: ‘Kung Fu Panda 3’
Saturday, July 23

Latin American Festival_HR%5b2%5dLatin American Festival and Mata Ortiz Pottery Market
Friday, Aug. 5 – Sunday, Aug. 7

Bazaar del Mundo hosts this annual festival with folk art, food, entertainment and more. It will showcase San Diego’s largest collection of Mata Ortiz pottery plus artisan jewelry, Mexican clothing and colorful collectibles. Live demonstrations will be given featuring different forms of artwork including painting clay pots, weaving hand-pulled wool and carving animals from wooden stumps.
