Cabrillo National Monument superintendent Andrea Compton invites the public to attend an open house meeting to share the Cabrillo National Monument Trail Management Plan / Environmental Assessment 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium Thursday, April 25. The plan will be used to guide the development, maintenance, and use of the trail system for the next 25 years with the goal of improving visitor experience and safety while protecting the park’s natural and cultural resources. Cabrillo National Monument staff will be hosting the open house for the public. No formal program is scheduled, but those interested in attending may stop by to learn more and provide their comments.
Cabrillo National Monument contains an existing network of roads and recreation trails. The trail plan is critical for protecting the special natural and cultural features of the park, providing quality recreational experiences for park visitors, and improving visitor access and safety.
Cabrillo National Monument is interested in hearing public thoughts on the environmental assessment. Staff will be accepting feedback during a 30-day comment period between April 13 and May 13. During this period, the public is encouraged to comment on the plan and identify any issues or concerns. In particular, the planning team is seeking public input regarding the accuracy and adequacy of the information and analysis presented in the plan or information that could influence changes to the preferred alternative.
