Organization gets new leadership
The San Diego Center for Jewish Culture at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, 4126 Executive Drive, recently selected Kathryn Martin to serve as its interim executive director.
“As a consultant to the arts and culture industry, guiding arts and culture organizations through periods of strategic transition provides me with unique opportunities to make a difference,” Martin said. “Being brought on by the CJC to help them to continue to fulfill their mission to expand and enrich culture is very compelling to me.”
Martin, who has more than 20 years’ experience working with performing arts organizations and is vice president of San Diego’s Arts Consulting Group, will oversee the expansive programs of the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture.
“Nationally, we at Arts Consulting Group find that when organizations engage experienced interim directors, they achieve and exceed their annual goals, while freeing up the board to focus on the search for their permanent executive,” she said. “This, too, is our goal for the CJC while their search is under way.”

TCWF recognizes leader
The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF) recently honored community leaders with its 15th annual California Peace Prize at a ceremony in San Francisco. In recognition of their efforts to prevent violence and promote peace, the honorees each received a cash award of $25,000.
Among the recipients was Casey Gwinn, who has worked to prevent domestic violence and child abuse for more than 20 years. He is currently the chief executive officer of the YWCA of San Diego County and volunteer chief executive officer of the San Diego Family Justice Center Foundation.
Previously, Gwinn served as the San Diego city attorney, at which time he founded the San Diego Family Justice Center, a “one-stop shop” for domestic violence victims who need help navigating more than 30 city and county departments. The U.S. Department of Justice has recognized the center as a national model.
