PACIFIC BEACH — At 1:22 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, the San Diego Police Department received a call about a possible broken water main near the intersection of Fanuel Street and Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach. At approximately 2:15 p.m. Officer Joe Underwood reported that the incident had not been officially deemed a water main break, but the City of San Diego Department of Public Works was at the site to investigate the water leak and concrete uprising on the street. He added that there had been a water spout from the street which reached approximately one foot above the street. The 1200 block of Garnet Avenue was closed to traffic. The City of San Diego has a tentative start date of Sept. 24 to replace water mains across several locations in the beach community. The construction for the water main installation on Garnet Avenue is expected to begin Nov. 10.
