A local church is hosting its annual blessing of the animals next weekend.
Both Christians and non-Christians who love their animals are invited to bring them to St. Peter’s by the Sea Lutheran Church Saturday, Oct. 5 starting at 9 a.m. A short outdoor service will precede the ceremony in the north parking lot of the church located at 1371 Sunset Cliffs Blvd.
The yearly event honors the life of St. Francis of Assisi, commonly regarded as the patron saint of animals.
All pets may be brought to the blessing, whether they be covered with fur, feathers or scales.
The church, founded in 1946, has a congregation of just over 300 members with a strong spirit of family and fellowship. Visit stpetersbythesea.org for information.
