The Bishop’s School family will come together on Friday, Feb. 8 for the annual Tastings Party.
The party serves as a kick-off event for the school’s auction “A Knight in Camelot” that takes place on campus the evening of April 12.
Slated to run from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at a La Jolla residence, the event’s proceeds on Feb. 8 support student scholarships and faculty endowment.
According to Bishop’s School spokeswoman Suzanne Weiner, the Tastings Party has been around for about a decade in some fashion or other.
“The Tastings Party is a social occasion for Bishop’s parents, alumni and parents of alumni to come together to kick off the auction season at Bishop’s,” Weiner said.
A popular and longstanding part of the annual auction is the Wine Auction that takes place at the party.
“To collect extraordinary bottles of wine for this event, the committee conceived of the Tastings Party,” Weiner continued. “The entry to the party is a bottle of premium wine (minimum value of $60 or more per couple) or a cash donation ($60) that the wine committee can use to purchase bottles and flights of wine. In turn, this wine is auctioned off on April 12.”
Weiner said the party wouldn’t be the success it is without the support of local businesses.
The following restaurants are providing the hors d’oeuvres and dessert for the party: Bread & Cie; The Fish Market; Jack’s La Jolla; The Chocolate Guy ” San Diego; Marketplace Grille; Metro Gourmet; Pizza Nova and Trattoria Acqua.
