Beach Tennis San Diego is promoting a free day of beach tennis at the Ocean Beach volleyball courts Sunday, Oct. 21, encouraging residents to participate in what members are calling “the fun, new sport everyone is talking about.”
Organizers point to the fanfare that arrived in June when the Pro Beach Tennis Tour made a stop in Mission Beach as the impetus for the new sport.
The event will include a challenge for competitive players and three courts for those who simply wish to learn and have fun, organizers said.
The upcoming event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Barnes Tennis Center will also offer free beach tennis court time the same day.
According to organizers, Head is supplying racquets and Penn will supply balls for the event. For more information, visit www.beachtennissandiego.com.
