New Craft Beer Festival goes over-the-line in Mission Bay

The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club is taking its renowned Over the Line Tournament to the next level this year, hosting its inaugural Craft Beer Festival in conjunction with the competition at Mariner’s Point.
On Saturday, May 20 from noon to 4 p.m., guests can sip craft beer from some of the top breweries, including many of San Diego’s own, and enjoy fare from local food trucks Epic Eatz, Tabe BBQ and Simply Fresh Gourmet.
Breweries will include: Aztec Brewing, Belching Beaver, Benchmark Brewing, Bolt Brewery, Dos Desperados, Fall Brewing, Helms Brewing, Indian Joe Brewing, Iron First Brewing San Diego, Ironfire Brewing, Left Coast Brewing, Resident Brewing, Second Chance Brewing, Bitter Brothers Brewing, Ballast Point, and Little Miss Brewing. Cutwater Spirits, from the band of liquid pioneers behind Ballast Point, will be selling craft cocktails.
General admission, including the four-hour beer tasting, for guests ages 21-plus is $30 with advance purchase at www.eventbrite.com, or $40 at the gate the day of the event.
The OTL tournament will host 125 teams in a double elimination format. The first rounds will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 20, with winning teams returning from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 21.
Tournament divisions include Men’s Pro, Men’s Open, Men’s Masters and Women’s Open. The tournament is currently completely full.
This two-day tournament and beer fest is a precursor to the 64th annual World Championship Over the Line Tournament set for July 8-9 and July 15-16 at Fiesta Island in Mission Bay Park.
OMBAC is a nonprofit organization focusing on amateur sports, youth athletics and local charities. OTL is the group’s main fundraiser.
