A couple pleaded not guilty Monday to charges they held up a Pacific Beach service station and committed other hold-ups elsewhere.
San Diego Superior Court Judge Joseph Brannigan set bail at $300,000 for Michael Beasley, 35, and Shelley Lynn Petitt, 32, at their arraignment.
They are charged with robbing an employee of cash at the Chevron station Food Mart on Garnet Avenue around 4 p.m. on July 29. The previous day they allegedly robbed a clothing store in Otay Mesa.
They are also charged with attempted robberies of two employees at an Escondido store the next day. Victims said it was the woman who pulled a gun in all the incidents.
“She is the one who pointed the air soft gun. In fact, she hit one victim with it,” said Deputy District Attorney Daniel Shim, who added the weapon looked like a real handgun.
Shim said the couple is from out of state and only arrived here recently. He said Beasley has an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Virginia for another case.
Brannigan set an Aug. 16 preliminary hearing. Shim said both of them were arrested Aug. 1 at the Harrah’s Rincon Casino in Valley Center by San Diego Police. They both remain in jail.
