Starting May 17 through July, lane and ramp closures will be in place Sundays through Thursdays, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., to accommodate the demolition of the Balboa Avenue Railroad Bridge. Motorists can expect the following closures:
Intermittent closures of westbound Balboa Avenue/Garnet Avenue, from Interstate 5 (I-5) to Moraga Avenue, and the north Morena Boulevard on- and off-ramps.
Intermittent closures of eastbound Balboa Avenue/Garnet Avenue, from Moraga Avenue to I-5, and the south Morena Boulevard on- and off-ramps.
Closure of the Balboa Avenue/Garnet Avenue off-ramp from northbound I-5.
What to expect:
One lane each of westbound and eastbound traffic on Balboa Avenue/Garnet Avenue will remain open at all times.
While westbound Balboa Avenue/Garnet Avenue is closed, motorists will need to use Damon Avenue to access Santa Fe Street.
This work requires the use of heavy machinery and will generate noise. Crews will minimize impacts as much as possible.
 
Traffic controls and detour signs will be in place to alert motorists in advance, please use caution when traveling near work areas.
