August is a busy month for Crusaders Soccer competitive teams as they gear up for the 2022/2023 season.
During August, every competitive team is participating in tournaments as preparation for the upcoming season. The weekend tournaments are played across the county ranging from Chula Vista all the way to Temecula.
The Boys 2010 Premier Team coached by Alberto Gonzalez won their division July 30 – 31 at the “Coronado Crown City Classic” tournament. Coach Gonzalez stated, “The team performed very well for their first tournament”, beating East County Surf in a tight match for the championship.
On July 26, Crusaders Soccer Club sponsored a special college night for both parents and players with college interests.
The presentation was made by Renato Capobianco, head soccer coach for Regis College in Boston, Mass. Capobianco discussed the intricacies of placing and coaching players in college and specifically the role of the parents in successfully guiding their child when he or she is interested in playing soccer at the collegiate level.
Capobianco was a collegiate standout at SDSU and has 30 years of experience ranging from the U.S. team administrator in the 1994 World Cup, as a MLS assistant coach and he has a strong background in youth development and college placement. The players and families were appreciative of the presentation and commented Capobianco certainly helped them to prepare for the next step in applying to a college with a soccer program.
The 2022 fall season for the grassroots/recreational teams begins in September. Nearly 1,000 players are registered.
Very soon you will see the players on virtually every city grass park and joint-use school field in Allied Gardens, Del Cerro and San Carlos. The children will play in Crusaders Soccer thanks to the 100+ dedicated community volunteer coaches and division coordinators who donate their time and efforts to ensure the children have fun while improving their soccer skills while making new and lifelong friends at the same time.
