With a 7-2-1 record heading into the final week of the regular season, the ASC San Diego soccer team sits in second place in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Southwest Division standings. ASC San Diego has secured a playoff spot, with the possibility of being seeded anywhere from first to third place depending on the outcomes of the final week of play.
ASC San Diego, which plays its home games at Mission Bay High Stadium, is slated to host Temecula FC Saturday, June 16 at 6 p.m. in the home finale. The locals wrap up the regular season on the road vs. FC Golden State, which could end up being for the regular season conference title and top seed in the post-season, according to ASC San Diego head coach Ziggy Korytoski.
Korytoski noted some of the key players to date have included Jean Antoine (allowed only nine goals in nine games), Felipe Libori (has covered box-to-box in the midfield), Dallin Cutler (has produced goals and assists from out wide), Amani Walker (continues to score goals from the forward position), and Kuba Waligorski (anchors one of the top defenses in the league).
“We are a well-balanced team this year as far as statistics go,” Korytoski stated. “Goals are spread throughout the team. We are proven as the number one goal-scoring team in the conference to this point, averaging 2.4 goals a game.”
Korytoski went on to add that ASC San Diego is a talented and special team.
“This is a team that not only wins games, but is accountable for their performance,” Korytoski said. “There is a belief and understanding to ‘Inspire Greatness,’ and we believe we do just that with the additional work off the field and in the community. We work very hard to make the experience for the supporter one that they will talk about for the coming days and bring them back to the stadium wanting more.”
