ArtWalk @ Liberty Station to feature artists, musicians

The 11th annual ArtWalk @ Liberty Station on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 13-14 will be full of art, food, live entertainment and fun for residents and visitors of all ages.
The event will be held at Liberty Station’s Ingram Plaza, 2645 Historic Decatur Road (corner of Historic Decatur and Roosevelt Road). The fine art festival will run from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Aug. 13; and 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Aug. 14. Attendance is free.
“ArtWalk @ Liberty Station is a weekend-long event that creates a platform for artists to showcase their work,” said Sandi Cottrell, ArtWalk San Diego’s managing director. “The festival brings together families, art lovers, collectors, residents and visitors to one of San Diego’s most loved arts and culture districts.”
Cottrell pointed out the beautiful park-like setting and rose garden at Liberty Station’s Ingram Plaza “provides a scenic backdrop for artists to showcase their work.”
ArtWalk @ Liberty Station will feature the works of more than 200 artists from around the globe. The art on display will showcase every medium from painting, sculpture and glass work to fine jewelry and photography. Attendees will also be able to enjoy live music, a KidsWalk offering interactive art for kids, delicious street-food options and a wine and beer pavilion in a beautiful al fresco setting for adults.
New to the festival this year are multiple interactive art exhibitions that attendees can participate in including:
• Interacting with local San Diego artist Nan Coffey, who will be painting live during the event creating an exclusive ArtWalk @ Liberty Station mural. Attendees can become a part of Coffey’s “Inclusion Art” by sharing their stories with her. She will weave the iconography of the stories into her painting — connecting hundreds of people and their stories together on a large-scale canvas.
• Another artist, James Yuransky, who refers to his art as “Zedism,” will provide an interactive art activity for all, incorporating paint and paper in a unique project about nature. Participants will paint small, multi-sided geometric objects that come together to create a 3D masterpiece.
• Artist & Craftsman Supply will be making its first appearance at ArtWalk @ Liberty Station with “The Butterfly Effect” —an interactive element where four painted butterflies will be hidden throughout the venue to give attendees the opportunity to find them. Winners will be able to select a charity of their choice to receive a donation.
Arts District Liberty Station is San Diego’s largest Arts and Dining District located in the former Naval Training Center. in the Liberty Station neighborhood of Point Loma. With 28 park-like acres, the Arts District is home to nearly 120 museums and galleries, artist studios, dance companies, educational groups, multidisciplinary arts, fine dining, creative retail and other organizations showcasing San Diego’s creative community while providing innovative experiences for residents and visitors.
The campus also features venues for indoor or outdoor events, festivals, seminars, retreats and meetings.
