ArtWalk at Liberty Station returns this weekend

ArtWalk at Liberty Station returns to Ingram Plaza for its 13th year Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 11-12 in the Arts District at Liberty Station, 2751 Dewey Road.
The theme of the free event this year is “Connecting Creative Communities.” It captures ArtWalk’s mission to bring San Diego together to enjoy art and cultural expression. In addition to thousands of works of art, attendees can also expect food, wine and beer, live entertainment and interactive art projects.
“ArtWalk at Liberty Station returns to the heart of Liberty Station’s Arts District to celebrate San Diego’s local artistic talent as well as national and international artists,” said Sandi Cottrell, ArtWalk San Diego director. “It’s important to bring the community together to appreciate art, while offering artists a platform to share their passion.”
Cottrell said attendees can experience the feeling of buying original pieces of art, as well as creating art through interactive experiences to connect with their inner artist in a variety of fun artsy activities.”
Artwork from more than 200 international, national and local San Diego artists will surround the picturesque Ingram Plaza rose garden, where attendees can view and purchase every medium of art including painting, sculpture, glass work, fine jewelry, photography and more.
The festival will also include: live music; KidsWalk, an interactive art area for families; street food options and a wine and beer pavilion benefitting ArtReach, a nonprofit that has provided free art classes to more than 20,000 underpriviliged students.
The fine art festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 11, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 12.
ArtWalk at Liberty Station is a two-day outdoor fine art event and the sister festival to Mission Federal ArtWalk in Little Italy – San Diego’s original outdoor fine art festival.
Arts District Liberty Station is San Diego’s largest arts and dining district located in 38 historic buildings at the former Naval Training Center in the Liberty Station neighborhood of Point Loma. With 28 park-like acres, the district is home to nearly 120 museums and galleries, artist studios, dance companies, educational groups, multidisciplinary arts, fine dining, creative retail and other organizations that showcase San Diego’s creative community and provide innovative experiences for residents and visitors.
The campus also features venues for indoor or outdoor events, festivals, seminars, retreats and meetings.
