Point Loma Nazarene University will host two upcoming concerts at the Crill Performance Center on Sept. 11 and Sept. 14.
The first concert, orchestrated by PLNU’s Department of Music and Cultural Events, will feature guitarist David Burgess.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 11, 3900 Lomaland Drive.
The second concert will feature San Diego native Robert Holm, who will return to his alma mater to perform a recital of masterworks from the Golden Age of piano music.
The repertoire will include Chopin Baracarolle, Schumann Symphonic Etudes and Liszi Sonata in B Minor.
Tickets for both events are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors, students and military. For more information, call (619) 849-2325, or visit www.pointloma.edu/musiccalendar.
‘South Pacific’ set to play out on deck of Midway
CCT Musical Theater and the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum will team up through Sept. 2 to bring the ever-popular “South Pacific” musical to life.
The show, featuring a cast of 42 performers, formally opened Aug. 22.
The performance will take place on the flight deck of the Midway, harbored at 910 North Harbor Drive.
Set on an island during World War II, “South Pacific” is considered by some to be the greatest musical of all time.
Playgoers will enjoy music depicting the splendor of the South Seas while enjoying a spectacular view of San Diego Bay.
For tickets, call (619) 588-0206 or (800) 696-1929, or visit cctmusicaltheater.com.
