Dance companies offer free community event
The three resident dance companies at Dance Place San Diego at the NTC Promenade in Point Loma’s Liberty Station will be presenting a free day of dance on Wednesday, Dec. 26 for the entire community.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., although individual studios will have their own schedules.
Participating in the event will be Malashock Dance, Jean Isaacs San Diego Dance Theater and San Diego Ballet.
The public is being invited to participate in free classes at the various studious throughout the day. According to event organizers, the free classes are open to participants of all ages.
The Dance Place San Diego studios are located at 2650 Truxtun Road.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, Malashock Dance will also offer intensive workshops for professional and pre-professional dancers involving four-time Emmy-winning choreographer and artistic director John Malashock.
The dates will run Dec. 27-29. Cost is $20 per class or $55 for all three classes.

Point Loma Nazarene
to host new series
Point Loma Nazarene University’s Department of Music will be hosting two upcoming events soon.
The first event will be PNLU’s Cider Celebration, set to take place Thursday, Nov. 29 and Friday, Nov. 30.
According to university officials, the performance will be “the Christmas show to end all shows.”
The event presents an opportunity for families and members of the community to sip cider together and enjoy Christmas favorites sung by the university’s Concert Choir and friends.
The event takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Crill Performance Center, 3900 Lomaland Drive. General admission tickets are $8.
The second event takes place Sunday, Dec. 2, featuring the work from Handel’s “Messiah.”
The legendary masterwork will be performed by the university’s 200-voice Choral Union and Chamber Orchestra, featuring soloists from the best of the vocal department.
The erformance will take place at 7 p.m. at Brown Chapel, 2900 Lomaland Drive.
Donations will be accepted for this second event.
