The Point Loma Artists group is currently displaying 28 works at the Point Loma Library through the end of the month. The art, which is available for purchase, includes watercolor, paintings, papier-mâché, woodwork and lots of sculpture.
“It’s primarily sculpture because it’s fun and whimsical and it’s three-dimensional,” said artist Jane Good.
She has been a member of Point Loma Artists for six years and is displaying three animal-themed pieces, all sculpted from clay. Good teaches a sculpture class at the Ocean Beach Recreation Center twice a week, and two of her students, also Point Loma Artists, will feature their works at the library show.
Good is excited about the inclusion of three-dimensional artists in the Point Loma group, which formerly centered on oil painting and watercolor mediums. Point Loma Artists currently has a membership of 35 residents who enjoy bringing their work to community events and venues.
“We like doing things in the area where we live,” Good said.
This is the second consecutive year that the library has displayed pieces by the Point Loma Artists. A smaller show of primarily paintings will follow the current one on April 1.
