I wanted to say thanks to reporter Lee Cornell and the Beach & Bay Press, on behalf of all the concerned people, for taking an interest (“Seawall collapse raises concern,” June 23 BBP, Page 1) in helping us put the spotlight on the city, which hopefully will be a (first) step toward getting the city to pay more attention and keep the wall and boardwalk in better shape. Stay tuned for additional steps that will be taken, including, but not limited to “volunteers” making repairs to the wall that the city won’t or can’t do for some unknown reason. We would want the media to be a part of our efforts. It’s apathy, incompetance and [lack of] funding that results in this situation. We all would like the boardwalk to be nicer and understand that it needs maintenance.
