Dear Councilman [Kevin] Faulconer:
I read in the Jan. 27 edition the San Diego Union-Tribune that you have not determined how you will gauge the impact of the newly implemented beach alcohol ban (“Just make booze ban permanent at beach” by Gerry Braum).
Please allow me to offer a simple suggestion: this weekend, grab Mrs. Faulconer and the kids and walk down to the seawall at the foot of Newport Avenue. As you arrive and are not greeted by a pack of drunken, foul-mouthed, overly aggressive transients, you will wonder where you are. Rest assured that you are, indeed, at the foot of Newport Avenue. And, as it occurs to you that you are not concerned for the immediate safety of your little ones, your wife and even yourself, you will realize the profound impact that the alcohol ban is having on this community.
My family experienced this as we strolled past the farmers market last Wednesday. We were flabbergasted. Our votes are yours.
