On Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 8 a.m. Takeda California, the La Jolla-based U.S. subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd., will take to the streets to fight breast cancer by holding its eighth annual Dog Walk at 10410 Science Center Drive benefiting Susan G. Komen San Diego. Takeda California will donate $10 for every mile completed by a person or their canine companion to Komen San Diego. The money raised will support breast cancer patients or those at risk by providing free services such as free diagnostic mammograms, life-saving screenings, temporary financial aid for living expenses, meal deliveries, research and more.
Thanks to funds generated by events like the annual Takeda Dog Walk, Komen has awarded $1.1 million in grants this past year, making Komen San Diego the County’s largest funder of free breast cancer services and support. Also, next to the U.S. government, Susan G. Komen is the largest funder of breast cancer research in the world. And much of that investment has been awarded right in San Diego.
