A Dane now living in San Diego, part 11

I have been living in San Diego for a little more than two months and I love it so much, that I never want to leave. One of the things that I love the most about living here are all the beautiful beaches. Living in San Diego is like living in a travel magazine filled with beautiful photos of white sand beaches, stunning cliffs and romantic sunsets. San Diego almost has a beach for every occasion and there is always a new beach you can visit. As I wrote in one of my previous columns, almost everybody in Denmark lives close to the beach, but because of the climate, you are very lucky if you can go to the beach more that 10 times during the summer. In San Diego, it is a beach day every day and I love the fact that there is a beach for every mood you are in. Here are some of my favorites so far: If you feel like relaxing on the beach in beautiful surroundings, you can go to Coronado Beach. Spending a whole day lying on the beautiful white sand beach, with a view to the beautiful Hotel del Coronado, will definitely make you feel like you are in paradise. Are you into acro yoga, slack-lining, doing the hula hoops, or do you just want to free you inner hippie? Then Ocean Beach is the right place to go. Just walking down Newport Avenue with all the palm trees and the little local shops, you sense the bohemian vibe that Ocean Beach is known for. I love the atmosphere in Ocean Beach and this is without doubt my favorite area of San Diego. Do you want to go surfing, or do you just want to look at surfer dudes all day? Then La Jolla Shores is the best place to go. La Jolla Shores, in my opinion, is the best beach in San Diego. There is white sand, clear blue water, and if you are lucky, you will see leopard sharks swimming around. If you are looking for a place where you can play volleyball with your friends, then you should go to South Mission Beach. There are always many people playing volleyball and there is a really cool vibe. People are playing music and hanging out with their friends. And what is nicer than playing volleyball while watching a beautiful Californian sunset? If you are a European, and looking for a place where you can be topless, Black’s Beach is the right place to be. Black’s Beach is one of the largest nude beaches in the U.S. and is surrounded by beautiful cliffs. The most popular route to Black’s Beach is via the trail from the Gliderport, where you will experience the most beautiful views. And last but not least, if you want to be in the middle of where everything happens, you should go to Pacific Beach. There are skateboards, beach cruisers and roller skates. Pacific Beach is where all the bars are located, and the area has a young and cool vibe. This is the place to be if you want to hang out with your friends and chill on a Friday afternoon.
