In early November, members of the Helix Charter High School team traveled to Washington D.C. to accept the National Blue Ribbon Award. The team met with local and state representatives to share the important work being done at Helix and toured other National Blue Ribbon Schools based in the D.C. area.
Helix is one of nearly 300 schools in the nation and one of four California high schools to be chosen this year.
The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes outstanding public and non-public schools and is an important part of the U.S. Department of Education.
The program celebrates school excellence, turn around stories, and closing subgroup achievement gaps. The award is both a high aspiration and a potent resource of practitioner knowledge.
