At long last, the Mission Trails Regional Park (MTRP) Foundation’s 28th annual photo contest results are in.

With eight categories, the highest-scoring photos took first, second, and third place, and we also awarded a best in show and people’s choice. We’d like to thank all of the photographers who submitted their photos to this year’s contest. We had a record-breaking number of submissions—295 from as many photographers—making it an incredibly competitive contest!

From the various categories, the first-place winning photos were Morning Reflection by Matt Jordan, Sublime Sunset Salutation by Danielle Parsons, Tree Near Grinding Rocks Trail by Mickey Wilson, The Cedar Waxwing Trio by Mark Foreman, Lake Murray Sunset Reflections by Andrew McCall, El Camino by Lluvia Martinez, Wispy Seeds on Flower by Rhonda Epstein, and A Wonderful Day to Sniff Buckwheat by Dachel Fohne. Mark Foreman won Best in Show with his photo The Cedar Waxwing Trio and Peter Pham took the People’s Choice Award with his photo Thumbs Up. The winning images as well as all the qualifying contest entries can be found on the park’s website: mtrp.org/photo-contest-2022/

The photo contest images will be on view at the visitor center through Friday, June 17. If you’ve already seen the photos in person and chosen a favorite, you’re in luck. After July 1, photos that haven’t been purchased by the photographer will be available to the public for purchase. The prints will sell for $25, and all proceeds will benefit the MTRP Foundation.

Thank you to donors to the Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation for making the photo contest possible, to the community members who cast ballots for the people’s choice award, and to the contest judges: Julia Dixon-Evans, Dolwain Green, and Rick Wiley.

For more information about the contest and other happenings at MTRP, visit our website at mtrp.org.
