First, let’s go beyond the gowns and pageantry. Applause to Mila Kunis and her husband Ashton Kutcher for raising millions and for giving a shout-out at the Oscars to support the people of Ukraine. With that in mind a big bark of applause to San Diego Humane Society’s Gary Weitzman who as a veterinarian is off to Poland to help refugee pets in need. He is doing this in conjunction with Greater Good Charities… Bravo!
More arts’ applause goes to La Jolla Playhouse at their recent gala. Beyond the glitz are the amazing outreach programs to all people, and their stellar Broadway finale productions including The Who’s “Tommy,” “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” “Jersey Boys” … Oh the days of afterparty’s and private parties at Dave Copley’s with Liza Minelli, Matthew Broderick, Barry Manilow, Pete Townshend, and the incomparable Des McAnuff!
And a superstar to the arts Toni Bloomberg was integral in making the San Diego Museum of Art’s current exhibition Monet to Matisse happen. This breathtaking display is a first for the West Coast courtesy of Georges Bemberg. Ooh la la don’t miss.
Speaking of Ooh la la, a special guest on hand was Aurelia Engle. She is the youngest daughter of artist Francoise Gilot. Gilot’s artwork for those in the know broke records at the Christie’s auction in Hong Kong last November. And yes, I am part of a lucky committee who will be hosting a private reception of Gilot’s never been seen before art. Will have the exclusive for you!
