Mission Valley Branch Library’s February-March events

The Mission Valley Library has several events for children and adults in the next couple months. The branch is located at:

The Library will be CLOSED on Monday, February 21st in observance of Presidents’ Day.

February Events

Date:  Tuesdays, February 1, 8, 15, 22, 2022
Time:  1:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Title:  Free Tax Preparation Clinic

The San Diego Public Library has partnered with the nonprofit Home Start to offer free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals. Appointments are required! Call Home Start’s Appointment Number at 619-952-7684 or email [email protected] to make an appointment or for more information.

Audience:  Adults

 

Date:  Wednesday, February 2, 9, 16 and 23, 2022
Time:  10:30 a.m.
Title:  Dance Pants Party
Recommended for toddlers, preschoolers, and early elementary-school age kids, this simple dance program will feature “The Wheels on the Bus,” “Baby Shark,” and more. Families, it’s time to get your groove on!  Please note: this program will be held outdoors. For outside programs, masks are recommended but not required.

Audience:  Recommended for ages 1+.

 

Dates: Thursday, February 3, 10, 17 and 24, 2022
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Title: Toddler and Preschool Storytime
Description: Recommended for ages 2-5, this storytime program includes books, songs, games, and early literacy fun! Please note: this program will be held outdoors. For outdoor events, masks are recommended but are not required.
Audience: Children

Date:  Monday, February 14, 2022
Time:  4:00 p.m.
Title:  Mission Valley Kids Book and Craft Club
Join us the second Monday of every month for an entertaining book club where we’ll discuss a great kids book, do a related craft, and enjoy snacks. A FREE copy of the month’s book will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis to those who plan to attend the club. Copies are available at Mission Valley Library.  February’s selection is Crenshaw, by Katherine Applegate.
Audience: This program is recommended for readers ages 8-11.

March Events

Time: 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Title: All Girls STEM Society presents Physics!
Location: Community Room
Description:  In collaboration with All Girls STEM Society, Mission Valley Library presents a fun physics workshop. Is the moon’s gravity the same as ours on earth? How are displacement, velocity, acceleration, and force related? Join us to explore the physics behind motion, force, and gravity. You’ll get the chance to build experiments to measure the acceleration due to gravity and win cute prizes through trivia!  This workshop is recommended for girls in Grades 5-8 (ages 9-14). Title: 
Spring into STEAM Presents:  Farming Robots Force!
Location: Community Room
Description:  A new generation of farming robots is on its way to help farmers around the world and ensure we have quality fruits and vegetables for everyone.  Join our Force and build an Arduino-based Spider Robot using bricks, gears, axles, motors, sensors, and controllers and then accept the challenge to help your Spider to collect the fruit and bring it to the fruit baskets at our “Let’s Grow Marketplace”.  Presented by Robothink.
Audience: Kids ages 9 -12.
