The La Jolla Community Planning Association will hold its annual election in March to find six new members to serve on the committee for three years.
LJCPA President Tim Golba said this is “your chance as a La Jollan to have a say in local planning affairs and to let your voice be heard on all projects that the City of San Diego reviews for La Jolla.”
The LJCPA meets the first Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. and at other times with its subcommittees.
“This is an excellent chance for anyone with an interest in local planning to be able to volunteer and give back to the community,” Golba said.
The association has a part in the rest of La Jolla by appointing volunteers to other committees, including Planned District Ordinance, Coastal Development Permit Review, La Jolla Shores Permit Review, Traffic and Transportation and La Jolla Parking Advisory Board.
A candidates forum will be held at the next LJCPA meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 at La Jolla Recreation Center, 615 Prospect St. The candidates thus far are David Little, Tony Crisafi, Joe La Cava, Phil Merten and Lynne Hayes.
Anyone interested in becoming a candidate should submit a letter or e-mail to the election committee at [email protected] expressing interest. To be eligible, the candidate must be a member of the LJCPA in good standing, meaning the person must have attended at least three monthly meetings during the past year and be at least 18 years of age.

The election will be held Thursday, March 6, but the deadline for potential applicants is the end of the Feb. 7 meeting.
