Bird Rock merchant hold Holiday Gift Drive
Two Bird Rock businesses are helping to brighten the holidays for mothers and children at Becky’s House Emergency Shelter and the YWCA of San Diego.
A Better Deal Men’s Tuxedos and Suits, 369 Bird Rock Ave., and La Jolla Mail Box, 5666 La Jolla Blvd., are collecting new supplies and gifts, including baby toiletries and diapers, children’s games, gift cards, bedding and towels, and sports gear appropriate for older children and teens.

Jewish singles will mingle Dec. 24
San Diego’s largest Jewish singles event will be held Monday, Dec. 24 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Lawrence Family JCC, 4126 Executive Drive.
The “Place to Be” party will feature casino games, music by DJ Robert John and dancing, plus appetizers and desserts.
A cash bar will be available, as well as a raffle with prizes.

Sammy’s rewards designated drivers
In collaboration with Mothers Against Drunk Driving, all Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza restaurants will encourage New Year’s Eve celebrants to make sure they have a designated driver to keep them safe and cut down on alcohol-related deaths.
On Dec. 26, guests at all nine Sammy’s locations who sign a pledge card and donate $1 to the San Diego Chapter of MADD will receive a card for a free pizza that can be used either that day or later.
