Pop Warner football will hold sign-ups
New Pop Warner football teams are being organized in La Jolla.Youngsters ages 5 to 15, maximum weight 150 pounds, are eligible. Practices will begin Aug. 1, and will run Monday through Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m., throughout the month. In September, practices will be reduced to three days each week.
Sign-ups will take place this Sunday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and again on Friday, July 21, from 3 to 5 p.m., at La Jolla Country Day School, 9490 Genesee Ave. Practices will also take place at Country Day.

Coastal South softball honorees named
The Coastal South League recently announced its top players for the girls softball season.Among the first-team honorees was Alexandra Berenter of La Jolla Country Day School.
Second-team selections included Samantha Berenter of La Jolla Country Day School and Natalie Camarda of The Bishop’s School.

La Jolla 24 Hour Fitness to host grand opening
The new La Jolla 24 Hour Fitness Sport club will hold a grand opening celebration this Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Festivities will include food, entertainment and special deals on membership, as well as a face painter, balloon artist and visits from police and fire department personnel for the youngsters. Prize giveaways include a Disneyland vacation and a trip to Hawaii.
The club offers exercise classes and programs geared to all athletic levels, as well as a Kids’ Club for childcare.
