Summer Concerts at Point Loma Park Series
The sixth annual Summer Concerts at Point Loma Park series has been scheduled for this summer. Concert dates will be July 21, 28 and August 4, 11, and 18. All concerts are free to the public.
The season opens July 21 with Big Time Operator performing traditional and original big band music. Smokestaax takes the stage July 28 with classic soul and rock and roll. August 4 features Peter Sprague and Pass The Drum, playing a spirited mix of Brazilian rhythms, jazz and reggae. Porterhouse Bob and Down To The Bone serve up New Orleans-style blues and Zydeco August 11. And for the August 18 finale, Dr. Feelgood and The Interns Of Love prescribe a big dose of all-time favorite dance party hits.
Point Loma Summer Concerts is a community service project of the non-profit Point Loma Association. Major sponsors for 2006 include: Willis Allen Real Estate, Point Loma Community Bank, Dick and Dorothea Laub, David P. De Rosier DDS, Wear Community Fund with Ryan Peninsula YMCA, The Olive Tree Marketplace, Point Loma Nazarene University, Stump’s Family Marketplace, The Thursday Club, Point Loma Association, Kobey’s Swap Meet, Harbor View Windows, JW Tumbles: A Children’s Gym, The San Diego Foundation, and Warren-Walker School. Additional funding comes from the City of San Diego Commission for Arts and Culture and the San Diego County Community Enhancement Program.
