Corporate Directors Forum, a San Diego advocate of professional standards in corporate governance, will host a breakfast and discussion on cybercrime and cybercriminals, and advice on the best practices to combat them, on Wednesday, July 30, at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla Pavilion.
Topics will include the state of cyber expertise among today’s CEOs and directors; what infrastructure for protection needs to be in place; tech-related questions for boards to ask of CEOs; and the needs of CEOs amid today’s technology. Shaygan Kheradpir, CEO at Juniper Networks and former chief operations and technology officer at Barclays, PLC; Ronald Plesco Jr., national lead administrator on cyberinvestigations for KPMG, LLC; and Andrew Serwin, a member of the global privacy and data security practice group at Morrison and Foerster, LLP, are among the expert panelists.
Cybercrime has emerged as a major threat, with 58 percent of a KMPG survey respondents perceiving financial services sectors as more likely to be prone to cybercrime. About 51 percent perceive themselves to be an easy target for cyberattacks due to the nature of their business. About 68 percent of the respondents indicated that they assigned less than 20 percent of their information technology security budget for preventing cybercrime.
The Hyatt Regency La Jolla is located at 3777 La Jolla Village Drive. The program starts at 7 a.m. with coffe; the breakfast and program is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. The event is free for forum members and $50 for nonmembers. Please respond by Monday, July 28. Advance payment is required. For more, call (858) 455-7930 or visit directorsforum.org.
