Area boys and girls looking to hone their basketball skills can travel to The Bishop’s School this summer for lots of learning and fun. This is the seventh consecutive summer of basketball camps at Bishop’s.
The summer basketball camps are modeled after the Bishop’s basketball program, focusing on personalized attention, skill building and positive feedback. Every day there will be full-court games, and at the conclusion of each session players will receive motivational handouts.
According to Tom Tarantino, boys head basketball coach, the coaching staff cares about the individual player beyond basketball, resulting in a program that provides positive feedback, builds self-esteem and instills pride in each player.
“Our goal is to provide a positive, fun and inspirational experience for all participants, regardless of skill level,” Tarantino said. “We want all participants to feel important and gain passion and confidence for basketball.”
The camps draw mainly from the surrounding community of La Jolla and Bishop’s students and are slated for students in grades 5 through 9.
Play began this week and will continue on the following dates:
“¢ Girls Afternoon Camp, June 25″”28, Grades 5″”9, 3:30″”6:30 p.m., $100/week;
“¢ Boys Full Day Camp, July 30″”Aug. 3, Grades 5″”8, 9 a.m.””3 p.m., $225/week;
“¢ Girls Full Day Camp, Aug. 6″”10, Grades 5″”8, 9 a.m.””3 p.m., $225/week.
