Addie’s collects shoes for cancer victims
The owners of Addie’s Studio are helping get cancer victims back on their feet this holiday season with their fourth annual shoe drive for the American Cancer Society.
Through Dec. 29, donors are invited to drop off new or slightly used athletic shoes at the University City location, 8935 Towne Centre Drive, Suite 105, or the Pacific Beach location, 4440 Ingraham St. Addie’s will include a pair of new athletic socks with each donation.
Tyler and Addie Merrill, owners of the personal training studio, said they were inspired to start the shoe drive after working with cancer survivors at their studio.
For more information visit www.addiesstudio.com or call (858) 483-2711.

Surgery Center co-hosts toy drive
The Orthopaedic Surgery Center of La Jolla, in partnerhip with Athletes for Education, is collecting toys for disadvantaged children. The toys will be distributed during a breakfast celebration, with special guests including members of the San Diego Chargers and, of course, Santa Claus.
Those who would like to participate are asked to bring a new toy with a value of $20 to $25, for a child ages 5 to 12, to the Orthopaedic Surgery Center of La Jolla, 4120 La Jolla Village Drive.
For information, call Melissa Preuninger, (858) 245-7296.
