On the eve of the busy Labor Day weekend holiday, the La Jolla Community Parking District Board will hold a special meeting this evening, Aug. 30, 5:30 p.m., at Hotel Parisi, 1111 Prospect St.
The meeting will begin with “adjustments to meeting rules,” according to the agenda, with revisions to the Public Comment Period, Public Comment on Agenda Items, and Conflicts of Interest and Recusal.
A board member’s request to change the composition of the board will be heard at 6:15 p.m., followed by “Consideration and Discussion of a Pilot Program for Downtown La Jolla.” The pilot program, which was discussed at greater length in last week’s Village News (page 5), proposes a one-year trial period of paid on-street parking in the commercial core of La Jolla, along with adjustments of existing time limits on parking in certain areas. Also included is a resident parking permit plan that would require the purchase of a maximum of two parking permits per household in neighborhoods surrounding Village business areas.
The board will not vote on the Pilot Program at the meeting, board chair Peter Wagener said.
“But it should come up soon,” Wagener said. “Otherwise we’re losing momentum.”
A meeting agenda can be picked up at the information box next to the Visitors Center at 7966 Herschel Ave. or by visiting www.lajollabythesea.com.
