I am a student at High Tech Middle Media Arts in Point Loma at Liberty Station. My eighth-grade class and I are involved in an assignment called the “Do Something Project.” We split up into small groups of three, four and five students and picked a cause that we felt passionate about.
My group and I thought a good cause would be vocational education (it is more recently being called career and technical education). But, since eighth-graders cannot participate in vocational classes until they are 16, we decided to have a Career Day, instead.
My group and I spent over a month and a half planning and calling local businesses in Ocean Beach and Point Loma.
I am writing this letter to recognize those companies that participated in Career Day on May 10, supporting our school and providing our students with the opportunity to experience some real-world working environments. These companies were: Bread & Cie Bakery, Checkal Construction, Claytime Ceramics, Cold Stone Creamery, Cows Record Store, The Electric Chair, OB Surf & Skate, Pride Surf Shop and Trader Joe’s.
Thanks, again, to all these companies for making the HTMMA Career Day a great one.
