• Scripps Institution of Oceanography will host an all-day public climate change workshop on Dec. 13. Called “Vulnerability and Adaptation to Extreme Events in California in the Context of a Changing Climate: New Scientific Findings,” the workshop will gather leading national climate experts to discuss California’s vulnerability in coming decades to extreme weather events. Speakers will assess the risks California faces from sea-level rise, heatwaves, floods, drought and diminished snowfall among other climate-related changes. The workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Scripps Seaside Forum Auditorium, 8610 Kennel Way.
