Neighborhood rivals La Jolla Country Day (LJCD) School and La Jolla High battled it out on the softball diamond this past week, with La Jolla securing a 5-0 victory. With the win, La Jolla came into action this week with a record of 4-3 for head coach Summer Ehrsam.
In other action last week, La Jolla fell to University City by a 5-3 score and defeated Our Lady of Peace, 6-0.
Ehrsam noted the recent play of Christy Becker, Collette Abbott, Becky Foster and Jenni Russell.
As for LJCD, the Lady Torreys came into play this week with a mark of 5-4.
Despite the loss to La Jolla, LJCD scored an 11-0 win over Escondido Charter. Alexandra Berenter had a three-run home run and was the winning pitcher.
According to co-head coach Corinne Brunn, Rachel Kanter is doing a great job as the outfield leader and is hitting very well.
LJCD is off for spring break and will resume playing in the Torrey Invitational Softball tournament that will be held at LJCD, JCC and The Bishop’s School, starting on April 5.
