Regarding “PLJ forms election subcommittee” (Village News, July 31, page B·1): Anyone interested in running for next year’s Promote La Jolla board should send a letter of interest by 5 p.m. Aug. 8 to [email protected], or gather the signatures of 25 or more PLJ members in good standing on a petition and send it in before Monday, Sept. 5.
The member submitting a letter of interest will go through the nominating committee’s process. The nominating committee will disclose its report with candidates at the regular August meeting.
Eligible members submitting a petition with 25 signatures in good standing by Friday, Sept. 5 will have their names put onto a written ballot.
The PLJ board of directors will close nominations at the September meeting and order the preparation of a written ballot. According to PLJ executive director Tiffany Sherer, the board of directors may recommend a slate of candidates, appoint an inspector of elections and, within seven days of the September meeting, the secretary shall forward the written ballot to the recommended slate of candidates, if any, and any proposals to be submitted to the membership for approval to each member by first-class mail.
