Bishop’s routs LCC in hoops tourney play
The Bishop’s School girls basketball team opened play in the Matador Classic last Friday with a 74-47 victory over La Costa Canyon.
The Lady Knights placed four players in double figures, with Gizelle Studevant leading the way with 25 points.
Briana Martinez (14 points), Elaina White (12) and Michelle Brunker (11) also reached double figures.

Lady Vikings JV cagers win opener vs. Coronado
The La Jolla High junior varsity girls’ basketball team opened its season with a 30-16 victory over Coronado last week.
Onezia Berotte led the way with 12 points and six steals, while Liore Barzilai added five points and five steals. Robin Mackelburg led the team with seven rebounds.
“It was a great start for us,” La Jolla High head coach Gary Frank said. “We have a very young team this year with eight freshmen and only one returner from last year’s team. They’ve been very enthusiastic and are working very hard to get better everyday.
“I’m really excited about the group of girls that we have this year. It should be a fun season.”
