A University City bank robber serving five years in prison got another two years to his term March 18 after pleading guilty to felony assault upon an inmate in jail.
Casey Wilson, now 29, was brought back from Avenal State Prison to face charges stemming from the injury of a 25-year-old inmate on Nov. 23, 2013 before he went to prison for robbing the Wells Fargo Bank on Genesee Avenue on June 11, 2013.
Wilson was shot in the arm by a security guard. He pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to five years. On March 18, San Diego Superior Court Judge Timothy Walsh imposed seven years for the jail assault but ordered that it run concurrent to the five-year term. The net effect is another two years.
Robert Hodge, now 29, was sentenced to 20 years in 2014 for the UC bank robbery plus five other bank hold-ups in La Jolla and elsewhere. The third robber, Laura Elshire, now 44, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for bank robbery and possession of razor blades in jail. –Neal Putnam
