Rising Star Band to perform at UCHS
The University City High School (UCHS) Music Department will be hosting the Rising Star Band on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at the UCHS auditorium, 6949 Genesee Ave.
Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. and the concert will begin promptly at 7 p.m. for 90 minutes nonstop, no intermission.
The Rising Star Band, which performs music from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, regularly plays at Humphrey’s as well as other clubs in San Diego, Las Vegas and Hawaii. The band includes former students of UCHS music director Mike Cummins.
Rising Star uses dance choreography, horns and musical impersonations for everything from Motown hits and ’70s disco to ’80s club dance mixes and today’s favorites, covering the Village People, James Brown, The Supremes, Madonna, MC Hammer, Rick James, Mary Jane Girls, Prince and more.
Tickets will be sold by music ensemble members prior to the event for $12. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the UCHS music program.
