The next phase of Garnet Avenue Emergency Storm Drain Replacement Project will begin Feb. 22 in Pacific Beach and is scheduled to end March 4. Emergency Storm Drain Pipe Replacement work will begin on Garnet Avenue at Soledad Mountain Road. Upon completion of the pipe replacement, the pipe trench will be filled and the roadway pavement restored. Eastbound Garnet Avenue will be closed Sunday through Thursday only during night-time operations, 9 p.m.-5 a.m. Traffic detours will be in place. During night construction, one through lane on westbound Garnet Avenue and the right turn lane onto Soledad Mountain Road will be open. All lanes will be open Friday and Saturday nights. Noise will be heard during the night time operations and all work will be performed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., subject to schedule change. A third week of construction may be necessary for pavement restoration, but that has yet to be determined.
