The Pacific Beach Town Council wishes to thank District 2 City Councilman Kevin Faulconer for his support preserving a piece of Pacific Beach history. Faulconer awarded a $10,000 grant for the preservation of the Rose Creek Cottage. Perhaps you pass this Tudor-style building located on Garnet Avenue at Soledad Mountain Road and are unaware of its historical significance. In 1906, F.T. and Emma Scripps built a family estate named Braemar where the Catamaran Hotel is now located. The cottage, built as a dining hall in the 1920s, was saved from demolition and donated to the Pacific Beach Town Council in 1985. The cottage is used for weddings, memorial services and family events.
Faulconer’s grant was used to paint the structure and make repairs to the decorative woodwork inside.
For rental information and history of the building, visit rosecreekcottage.net.
The Pacific Beach Town Council has been working together since 1951 to build a better Pacific Beach. www.pbtowncouncil.org
